Carbon Reduction Plan
Prepared in line with the GOV.UK Carbon Reduction Plan template referenced by Procurement Policy Note PPN 06/21, which applies to in-scope central government contracts above £5 million.
Reporting period: 12 months ending 31 March 2026 · v1.0
1. Commitment to net zero
Sifotech UK Ltd is committed to achieving net zero emissions across our direct operations by 2050, in line with the UK government’s statutory commitment under the Climate Change Act 2008. As a small digital business with no owned fleet, no manufacturing and minimal physical footprint, our path to net zero depends mostly on the energy choices made by our cloud subprocessors and by our staff at home.
2. Baseline emissions footprint
Baseline year: 12 months ending 31 March 2026. Emissions are estimated and reported in tonnes of CO₂ equivalent (tCO₂e). Estimation methodology follows the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and the GOV.UK PPN 06/21 guidance.
Total baseline: approximately 4.5 tCO₂e, almost entirely Scope 3. Figures are estimates derived from supplier disclosures and conservative defaults from the UK government conversion factors.
3. Current emissions reporting
Current reporting period coincides with the baseline year, so current emissions equal the baseline. From the 2027 report onwards, year-on-year deltas will be presented relative to this baseline.
4. Emission reduction targets
5. Carbon reduction projects
The following operational decisions and projects underpin our reduction targets:
- UK / EU hosting only. Production workloads run on UK / EU cloud and database infrastructure providers, all of which publish public commitments to renewable energy and efficiency. Named subprocessors disclosed in the DPA at contract.
- Low-power devices. Engineering is carried out on Apple Silicon MacBooks, among the most energy-efficient development machines available.
- No fleet, no office HVAC. We do not run a company car fleet and we operate as a remote-first studio with no leased office at the present time.
- Renewable-tariff home electricity. The director’s home workspace is on a 100% renewable electricity tariff and we will encourage and contribute to the same for future staff.
- Efficient software. We optimise hosted workloads (incremental static regeneration, edge caching, query budgeting) to reduce compute use per request.
- Travel discipline. Customer meetings are held over video by default; in-person travel is by rail wherever the UK rail network reasonably permits.
- Procurement preference. When evaluating new subprocessors we factor in disclosed carbon performance alongside security and price.
6. Declaration and sign-off
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been prepared in accordance with PPN 06/21 and the associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans. Emissions reporting and reduction commitments have been reviewed and signed off by the director of Sifotech UK Ltd.
